I'm leaving on a jet plane...

Well Christmas is over for another year and now finally we're going on holiday!! Hooray, can't wait. We fly out tomorrow morning to Auckland then head off north up to Whangarei in a hire car where we'll spend a couple of days with the boys family.
Then on New Years Eve we drive back to Auckland to pick up my Sister and Brother in-law and Niece who arrive from the UK. As I haven't seen them for 4 years you can imagine just how excited I am. We will spend a couple of days in Takapuna,on the North Shore where my Sister and I grew up.
Then we all head off north again to Kerikeri, a beautiful spot in Northland.
So I won't be blogging for a little while...and I won't be scrapping for a while either (sob sob..not enough room in the suitcase). But we'll be back on the 8th so I'll post some of our holiday adventures then. Well it's late and we have an early start tomorrow so will sign off for 2010. Happy New Year everyone and may 2011 be everything you want.

Christmas Eve

Well here we are .... a few hours before the day we all seem to lead up to each year.

The food, the presents, the decorations have all been bought. And we all wait for that magical moment when we awake in the morning and realise it's Christmas. There are probably some people still running around in a panic doing last minute, cooking, visiting. And we're all aiming for that one day where we get to say "so this is Christmas". For anyone reading this I hope your Christmas day is everything you hope it to be. I hope you get to share it with the people you love and want to be with. I hope the gifts you give are received with the love with which they were bought. And if you are lucky enough to receive a gift or two, I hope it is exactly what you wished for.
I may not be able to post on here until a week or so into the New Year but I will be back no fear. So until then a very Merry Christmas everyone and I hope the New Year brings you much joy and happiness.

What a week!

And it's only Tuesday!! But i guess I'm like everyone else...running around doing last minute things for Christmas. Over the weekend it was making homemade sweets...I made some these...
And some of these...

And a few others that I forgot to take photos of
but I ended up with bowls like this....

No I didn't make the ones with Christmas foil on...I cheated and bought those ones.
I also made my version of a Christmas cake but I stuffed it up some how so I have to make another one. I'll show you that later.
My poor old Christmas Journal is on hold at the moment...I just have not had time to do any of it, but I have several pages in the planning and I've been taking the according photos. I might just be able to get some printed tomorrow so I could have a quick play on Thursday. I'll definitely get a little bit done on the 27th as knowing me I will be all packed and ready for my holiday so will be at a loose end that day.
Well I'm off to get some more inspiration from Nigella on the Tele before I do the dishes and attempt this jolly cake again. See ya.

Just had to share!

Had a lovely surprise today when i looked at my facebook....I had won a prize the from Scrabook Trends magazine page. Its an Echo Park pack of their Wintertime line...I think it has papers, stickers, and chipboard ....maybe some rubons. Oooh I can't wait for it to arrive. i'm guessing i won't get it till the New Year but it will be nice to come home to.

Have had a busy day uploading heaps of photos on to Trademe....haven't been able to even look at my Christmas journal today. And I've nearly finished my dress. Will show you when i've finished. Did manage to watch a great movie though...My Sisters Keeper...very sad but lovely. The power of love aye!!
Now I must go and find that ink I was talking about....I've had a small brainwave of how to use it. Will let you know if it works.

An interesting week

I found out something very interesting the other day.....the easiest way to clean your kitchen floor is to have a flood by overflowing your sink with hot soapy water. Geeeeezzzzz what a mess! But an hour and 4 towels later I had a sparkling floor and the stove even got pulled out and cleaned behind.
I also found out something else...I CAN'T WAIT FOR CHRISTMAS!!!!! The count down is on but this has been a weird week as I'm basically organised but there is so much I can't do until the last week, like baking, making sweets and packing for our holiday up north. So I've been organising photos for Trade Me of all the bits we didn't sell in our garage sale the other week. And of course I've been doing my Journal Your Christmas. Having so much fun with this. I know you've seen this photo before but this is what I ended up doing with it.

And here are some more pages I've done.

You can't really read this but it's all about having Christmas in England in the snow.

My To Do List on the 7th.

The tree...of course. I did this one today along with....

This one...a fast and easy one.
So it's all coming along quite nicely really. I've got a few other pages organised in my mind, just need to get photos printed. I'll say one thing though, I don't know how any of these girls do this if they're working unless this is all they do when they get home each night. It's a bonus that I'm not working at present or I don't think I would have coped doing something every day.
Well I need to go and get some sleep and restore all those creative juices. I have a dress to try and make tomorrow and I've been wanting to have a go at stamping on fabric....I have some staz-on which is permanent ink which I want to trial by way of washing it on fabric to see if it really "stays on". I'll let you know how I get on. So bye for now and watch this space.

Think I've got it now

Ok, as I was about to say in my last post, I've finally got photos of my Christmas journal. The album is a Bazzill Basics 11x8 1/2 (landscape) in a limey appley green. It doesn't show very well in the photo but it's really a pretty colour.
I know how I'm going to decorate the front but I won't do it for a while yet till I've got some more pages out of the way.
I'm doing a mix of this size page plus a few 8x8's. So when I started the class Shimelle showed a video of the most gorgeous date tags. Well being the scraplifter that I am, I decided to make the same for my journal, just in different colours. So after lots of punching and cutting and inking I started a little assembly line.

And ended up with these....

I just love them!So cute!
So here is my first page with the Dec 1st tag.

Yes it is Nigella on there....I journalled about watching her Christmas Kitchen show as being the Christmassy thing I did that day. So here are a few more of my pages.
I cut the wee bear out of one of the cards and mounted him on sticky foam then glitzed his fur hat.

I made the Holly and the berries have kindy glitz on them as well. Finally here is yesterdays page about wrapping paper.

I decided to stop taking photos after this one 'cos the cat was trying to join in.

Little Minx!
Anyway that's it so far. I've prepared heaps of other journalling and have sketched page layout ideas...just need to put it all together.
Well the boy is calling...we are about to watch a DVD...Ironman 2...really looking forward to it. So I'll catch up with more pages in the next few days. OMG! only 14 days to!!

Busy busy day!

Another garage sale today. Had quite a few people through but didn't make as much as last week. Enough to buy all our Christmas food though. I'll put some of the leftover bits on Trade Me and try and get rid of them that way.
Feeling very virtuous though as I tidied up my craft room this afternoon.  So much easier to work in.
Ok having a problem now uploading a second pic so will start another post to see if I've figured out what I think I have to do. Wish me luck :-)

Wish I was more techy!

A busy day today grocery shopping, sorting bills to be paid, washing and making a couple of cool pressies for my little sister (can't show you 'cos she watches this so you'll have to wait till after Christmas) but managed to fit in an hilarious movie on sky...It's Complicated" with Meryl Streep. Laughed myself silly.
Also fiddled a bit with my Christmas journal sorting a few bits. I'm taking photos tonight once I've finished a few more bits then I'll upload tomorrow. At least I can do that right!! been trying to add some stuff onto here today and do you think I can figure it out. Driving me nuts! I just wanted to make a coloumn for the other blogs I read and I'm doing what it says but something's not working. I know once I get the first one I'll be fine but so far no good. Never mind I'll persevere.
Having a garage sale tomorrow to try and de-clutter a bit. We had one 2 weeks ago and did alright out of it...made about $400. It's going towards our Christmas holiday up north. So hopefully will make a bit more towards it.
Well my boy is sat watching a horror movie so I'm off to do some more journalling. Bye for now.

Another day closer

Only 17 days til the big day....and only 23 days until I get to see my UK family...woohoo!! This New Years Eve my sister Debs and her family fly into NZ for a couple of weeks. We are meeting them in Auckland and going up North with them for a week. Debs wants to do the "this is where Mummy grew up and had Christmas holidays" tour for Holly who's 8 now. I can't wait to see them all and am looking forward to them meeting Neil for the first time. I just hope he can handle me and Debs being together as we do tend to go a bit nutty in each others company. I'm expecting a lot of laughs over our week together.
Was out most of the day doing a few last minute bits so haven't done any Christmas Journal today but  I plan to have a big catch up tomorrow and start taking some photos of what I've done so far to show on here. But I thought I'd share this with you in the meantime.
I decided we needed to have a Christmassy bedroom so found this cheap and cheerful Duvet set in red and white...Isn't it delicious!! And I changed Bunnys ribbon to match (it's normally bright spots). Well that bed is calling me so I'm off to dream about what I'm going to journal tomorrow. Bye for now.

So this is Christmas.

Now normally I would be stressing over getting this blog all perfect and looking and working just how I want it but I'm reminding myself that it's the writing content that's actually important. The other stuff can wait and I'll do it as I have time and as I find out how to do things.

Anyway it's nearly Christmas...yay!! I love Christmas and this year I was fortunate enough to be given a spot in Shimelle Laines online class "Journal your Christmas" by my good friend Laura (her blog is Lazy Dynamics. (See I'd put links in here if I knew what to do..LOL). I'm loving the class, we get prompts every day to suggest what we make our daily page on, and so far I'm coping with it all. This is my first online class ever. Budget wise I've been really good and not bought anything new for it except some chipboard letters and a couple of amazing Martha Stewart snow flake punches (which arrived this morning by courier). If you could see my stash of stuff I've collected over the past few years you'd know why I couldn't justify buying any other new supplies for it. Not earning any money at present doesn't help either, especially at this time of the year. Anyway I'm keeping up with the prompts with my journalling at least and the whole thing has certainly got me in the Christmas mood. I seem to be thinking Christmassy thoughts all day wondering how I'm going to do my next page. The one good thing about being out of work at the moment is that I am very well organised for Christmas. And here we are the 8th December and I have done all my shopping except a couple of small things and I need to make my Christmas sweets for a few people. All the presents are wrapped and under the tree, the Christmas menu is sorted and all the Christmas cards and parcels have been posted. So I think I'm doing pretty good.
OMG! I just astounded myself by uploading that photo. I'll try that again soon with some of my Journal your Christmas pages.
Well off to get the boy out of the house as he has a couple of jobs to go and look at. Bye for now.X

First Post

Well here I am finally....going live on my very own blog. I have wanted to do this for so long and I've been trying to get it organised all week but other things kept getting in the way. I still have a bit of sorting out to do with adding things to my page but not being particularly techy I guess it will take me a few days to get the hang of it all. Right now my cat, Pixie, is trying to help me ( NOT!!!) by leaning all over the keyboard. She obviously thinks I'm ignoring her. Well right now I want to go and find out how to add the blogs I follow to my page so wish me luck and I'll post again soon.
